Because of an error by the editor, a candidate-profile story in the Midway Messenger's print edition, which also appeared
online, incorrectly said that City Council Member Bruce Southworth is vice mayor because he received the largest number of votes in the last election. That was true in 2014, but not in 2016, when Sara Hicks received 457 votes and Southworth ran second with 438. They informed the Messenger of the error this evening. "Thanks for the bonus," Southworth said with a grin.
