Sparks in the Park to begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 2; council candidates will speak at 6:30

The annual Sparks in the Park celebration for Independence Day will be held Saturday in Walter Bradley Park, starting at 6 p.m. Candidates for city council in the Nov. 8 election will have an opportunity to speak for two to three minutes, starting at 6:30. They will speak in alphabetical order: Steven Craig, Kaye Nita Gallagher, Sara Hicks, John McDaniel, Steve Simoff, Bruce Southworth and Libby Warfield. Food will be served at 7:15.
